Throw-back Thursday (...well, Sunday)

This weekend I decided to go home to Kent to spend time with the fam and such. I looked through my A Level, AS Level and GCSE sketchbooks...good grief the transitions!

Firstly, GCSE skeleton drawings. Awkward emo phase perhaps.
I can't words at how different my style and interests are now.

Secondly, AS Rachel Whiteread-inspired negative space plaster casts for AS Level.
I did this one of the inside of a desk phone with a friend in my cellar, it took us weeks.
It was sewn together and painted. The copper wiring inside reads 'Leave Me Alone'...so awkward.

Finally some sketchbook shots! Look at how pretty they were =)

Bea's Book of Things

It's a bit cheeky of me, as this is not actually my art, but I gave this beautiful book to my friend as a birthday present. I found it in the Bloomsbury Oxfam bookshop where I work - they have tonnes of unprinted hardbacks with beautiful covers from the folio society, ideal for sketching. YUM.

Autumn Self Portrait

Ahhh duvet days and woolly clothes, plus abundances of hot drinks all round.
Autumn is here!
London is great during Autumn, but I do miss my cuddly Bubby cat back home in Kent.

Fineliners and watercolours.
Excuse the mess that is my face. Focus on the hat, hair and mug instead.

Vivienne's Birthday Tea Party

Sorry I have been slightly dormant of late - haven't done much arting as I have just started back at uni and this term is HAAAAAARD (good though!)

Anyway here is a simplified version of my A Level final piece (scroll back through da blog to get da reference). Sorry about the shoddy photo...one of these days I will invest in a proper sharp camera.

Trying to lug this huge lump of card on the bus then the train to Bristol (personal delivery) was hilarious. Yes, I laughed in my solitude.

Europe Sketches

Over the past few years I have travelled to some wonderful places with some wonderful people, and I made some sketches. I thought I'd share them =)

Rome (February 2012):

Florence (July 2012):

Norfolk (August 2012):

Amsterdam (July 2013):

Goodbye halls!

Today I moved out of my university room in central London (super sad day), and returned to Kent (where there is sun and cats) for summer. I thought I'd just upload some photos of my uni room to commemorate it and demonstrate both my artistic influences and my collage skills.
Not really art I know, but I was proud. I will miss it.

Things to Note:
copious letters from my darling friends, empty alcohol bottles, poster of David Attenborough which I woke up next to after a drunken evening and I still don't know why, fireplace with a picture of fire because we were not allowed real fire (tragic), massive revision timelines, stuffed broccoli

Engagement Card

My friends announced that they are tying the knot,
so I donned by trusty scalpel and made them the biggest card I possibly could and got all the people in our university year to sign it.
I am so happy for them, and I think the card conveys this...although Noah's head keeps falling off.

(sorry about the poor quality - my camera is not so good)
